Could someone tell me what the difference is between a size 5T and a size 5?

My grand has just moved from a 4T to a 5T according to her mother. I love buying her clothes, but I'm having trouble finding 5T things. I find lots of size 5 and don't really know the difference. Help from mommies would be nice.

The "T" sizes generally just have some extra room in the seat to accommodate a diaper. Most toddler sizes only go up to 4T. Old Navy is one store I'm aware of that has toddler sizes up to 5T. If your grandchild is out of diapers, I'd think a regular size 5 should work fine.

when there is a T after the size it usually means that the size runs shorter. Basically a T is still considered a toddler size. it is for the five year olds that are shorter than most. When you start with 4-5 then 5-6 and so on your sizes run bigger longer pants shirts and so on. 4-5 is also extra small 5-6 small 6-7 medium 7-8 large and then into teen sizes. hope that helps! always go bigger that way she can grow into it.
