Switching a title over in a car?

I bought a car and they signed the title over to me and I have paper with signatures saying they sold it to me and I signed it. I never got it switched in my name, and now im selling it. Do I have to get it switched into my name then in to theres or can I go straight from who i bought it from to him and just skip me??

Old signed title from the seller, with you being the buyer, but you signed the title and you haven't changed over in your name at the State Motor Dept. And now you wish to change it over to a second buyer, Sign the title again, usually there's a secondary, sign off line. Or Just sign a power of attorney and a notarized bill of sale. To the new purchaser.

Source(s): This is the reason why as a seller, I take my license plates off, it makes the new buyer apply for new registration and plates and get the car out of my name. We have photo cameras at stop lights and who ever owns that car or plate will get a ticket in the mail. Portland,Oregon
