Please name some stupid laws in the US?
Also, please list your political and religious beliefs.
Here is what I believe are stupid laws:
-Laws that put a person in jail for killing a cat, but leave farmers alone as they butcher thousands of other animals, like cows, chickens, pigs, etc. I think there should be logic and consistency in law. What exactly is "animal cruelty"? Why is it okay to slaughter some animals by the millions, but not okay to kill even one of another kind of animal? Seems there is no rhyme or reason to animal cruelty laws. In a Jewish slaughter house, it's perfectly legal and in fact required by religious law to hang a cow by its legs and slit its throat and let it slowly bleed out as its hanging upside down. This is the "clean" way to kill animals. It's done all the time in the US and it's perfectly legal. Now imagine I hang a dog upside down and slit its throat. Or I hang a monkey upside down and slit its throat. I'll go to jail! Why will I go to jail but the Jewish guy not? What, just because of his religious beliefs? Okay, I start a new religion that requires that I slaughter dogs and moneys that way. There, now it's a religion. I bet I'll still go to jail. What, do I have to eat the animal after I kill it? Okay, so I eat the dog or monkey. Does that make it legal? I think not. Animal cruelty laws are stupid because of their lack of consistency.
-Marijuana laws. I can't count the number of studies and peer-reviews journals that have repeatedly come to the same conclusion again and again: Marijuana is less harmful and less addictive than alcohol or tobacco. Not a single person in the history of humanity has died from over dose of marijuana. No one becomes violent when they smoke it. Quite the opposite, people get pleasantly tired and relaxed and mellow. Yet you can still go to jail for 20 years to life if you have a few pounds of this stuff in your car and you were planning to sell it to other adults. Very very stupid law.
-Laws that give people A LOT of incentive to cross the border illegally into the US. If you are the average unemployed or poor person living in Mexico close to the US border, you'd have to be insane or down-right stupid to not cross the border and come to the United States. Let's see here: You get free medical care, free schooling for your kids, drivers license, free housing, free this, free that, etc. Or... you can choose to stay in Mexico and get your head cut off by the cartels or live in utter poverty and corruption. Gee, tough decision.. eh? Why do American politicians give illegal immigrants so many incentives by offering all these hand-outs? I really don't blame illegal Mexican at all. Not one bit. If I were them, I'd climb the fence too. If our neighbor to the south were India or Bangladesh or Somalia or Ethiopia, they'd be doing exactly the same thing. It has nothing to do with race or nationality and everything to do with free hand-outs to people who cross the border. Well OF COURSE there's going to be tons of illegal immigration if you reward illegal immigrants with free food and money and medical care and everything else! Stupid law: Hand outs to illegals.
I'm a Libertarian, not religious.

Any state or federal laws that unnecessarily restrict the right of every law-abiding citizen to arm him- or herself with the firearm of choice, to use for the constitutionally protected right of self-defense. You don't need a license to own and operate an ordinary printing press or website (protected under First Amendment), so why are the individual rights under the Second Amendment any different? The fact that criminals have much easier access to firearms just makes it more dangerous for the rest of us, unless we are also allowed be sufficiently armed.
Also stupid: laws protecting unions and collective bargaining. It may be better to just leave industry and employment practices to be governed by market forces. If nobody wants to work for you, then you will eventually go out of business. Under no circumstances should any government employee be allowed to join a union that purports to speak for them, let alone go on strike.
Also stupid: Paying government money (stolen from smarter taxpayers who took the trouble to get rich) to rescue people and to assist them to rebuild and protect houses that are in flood plains that have been flooded periodically since water and weather were invented.

That is NOT the way Jews slaughter animals!! Anyone who knows anything about Jewish shechita knows that the *reason* that it is the only way Jews are allowed to eat an animal is that it is the most humane way to kill an animal. The animal MUST be killed with a swift slice of the neck that kills them in a split second. There are insanely strict laws about how sharp the knife has to be, so that it will be as fast as possible and that the animal might not even feel anything before it's all over.
Seriously, where do people get these things from??
Just had to say. I don't like when people try to spread lies about my people.

...If you don't like a particular Law... find people who "think" like you do and petition your Congressman to have the Law changed... what YOU consider a "stupid" Law might NOT be what "others" think ! This Nation is a Constitutional Republic.
...being a Libertarian is 1/2 of your problem !
