Is my number plate legal ?
It has the car reg in regulation black letters but the other details also important for an MOT test nowadays.
At the bottom right it says "HSP BSAU 145D"
and at the bottom middle it says "HSP G22 7XT"
The font is very small but its still legible.

my understanding is that the actual registration number must be a specified size, layout and font. providing the manufacturer of the plate can be read it doesn't matter what size that is.
a valid plate these days must identfy who made the plate (thats the HSP G22 7XT).. almost certainly Hills Ltd http://services.whatcar.com/service/5017679/number...
as others have said the BSAU identifies that the plate compolies with the relevent British Standard
http://www.bnma.org/bsaua45d.htm
so based on that
the plate has been made by a specified manufacturer, you have to assume that the manufacturer knows what they are doing and has supplied the plate as per the standard By stamping it with BSAU 145D they are asserting its made to that standard.
so I read that as the plate is perfectly legitmate

thats the british standard number and the post code of the business where the number plate was made,
its depends how small the font is, so with out seeing a pic of it we dont know if its legal or NOT legal
