Is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. showing some guts by calling out Sergio Martinez?

Update:

@ cheyenne,

I am leaning towards Sergio Martinez by UD. If Roach can somehow come out with a great strategic gameplan maybe Chavez can upset the odds, but I still highly doubt it.

Yes and i think it's about time he steps up and fights better competition. He gets a lot of unfair criticism imo because he's still untested but under Freddie Roach now is the time to step up.I think he will see off Zbik but Sergio will be a whole different animal. There would be no shame losing to Martinez and if he shows heart and competes with Sergio then he might actually win more fans. But i've seen nothing in JCC's arsenal to suggest that he could beat a fighter with the ability of Martinez

It is nice to know that somebody is calling Sergio Martinez. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. might not have the capability to beat Sergio in our belief but we won't really find out until they fight. Now it's Sergio's time to consider if he's going to accept it of not. Martinez said that Julio won't consider fighting him so he will go after Sebastian Zbic and he is wrong if it is true that Chavez Jr.is calling him. Freddie Roach can help Julio Jr. in devising a plan on how to beat Sergio. I hope we could see this fight.

  • He actually is.

I do feel though that Chavez, Jr. would be biting off far more than he could possibly chew in fighting Martinez. He has an average skill set that would be a breeze for Sergio to handle, and while Chavez, Jr. is a Mexican warrior, he would sustain a beating along the likes of Serhiy Dzinziruk.

Well, Jr. is a pampered boy for a very long time. Fighting Martinez will once and for all prove him if he is really an A-caliber fighter. Though I do believe Martinez will not fight him, for now, I think Chavez will have a hard time to win against Maravilla.

Sergio Martinez by a wide UD.

I don't really see that as calling out Martinez, but anyway, it's one thing to talk about it and another to actually do it. If he wins his next bout and then he signs to fight Martinez then yea he would be showing a lot of guts.

It's about time he join the elite group to prove his capability and skill. Martinez will be favored to win this handily but we all know upsets can happen and this could be one of them.

I think he'll be showing guts, and not talk, when he actually fights Martinez.
