How to keep in touch?

Hello everyone

I am in pharmacy school. I just finished a rotation at a site that I really liked. I would really like to work there after graduation and I told my preceptor about this and he told me to keep in touch. I have one more year left before I graduate. The thing is i'm really bad at keeping in touch...i know i can email him and what not but what do I write?? Right now I keep telling myself that I will keep in touch but as always I feel that as time passes by I would be less and less inclined to do that because I feel like if I do write to them..they would think "oh he's just keeping in touch because he wants a job here" I hope you guys understand my dilemma and please offer a solution..

There's absolutely nothing wrong with telling your preceptor that you're hoping to apply for a job at that pharmacy after you graduate. Write now, telling him that you enjoyed your time there, liked the location and the people, and would really like to work there after you graduate. Be sure to include all your contact information, both at school and at your home. He'll keep your letter.

As your graduation date approaches, write again and ask about job prospects coming up. They already know you and your work, so you'll definitely have an inside track. Even if there will be no openings at that pharmacy just then, your preceptor may be aware of other locations that need a pharmacist.

Don't e-mail – write. This is formal business, and has to do with your future career.

they might think that your just writing them to get the job, but hey isn't that what your doing. So, every month or every other month, send them an email asking them how everythings been going and that your looking forward to graduating. The email dosn't have to be your life story and it also depends on what kind of relationship you had with him, on what you should talk about. When you were working together, use what you talked about.
