Being a restaurant hostess?..?

being a hostess means somtimes taking the crap for the waiters mistake. i use to be a hostess at dennys........ just smile be friendly and most important dont just stand around with your arms crossed....... if its one thing employers hate its a lazy person find any way possible to entertain yourself with work, keep your self organized!!! especially if you get a rush of people, you need pens always!!! you get a rush of people you pull out your list!!! Dont let the waiters and waitresses boss you around and tell you what to do!!!! sometimes i use to listen to them and my manager would get mad that i wasent at my station ....just politely decline any of their request, unless your boss says it ok to help them...and one another thing clean menus on spare time managers love that......... and dress how they ask you to! Usually black slacks NON SLIP SHOES are a MUST!!! you can get them at walt mart or online!!!! A dress shirt ...if your sweet and good with talking to people ,just be yourself and you ll do fine...depends were you live like if you live in a spanish part of town like LA and your a white girl try picking up some spanish like................. how many in your party????? hello how are you doing today ???and can i get you a drink??? and so and so Most IMPORTANT dont forget to pray each day before you go in !!!!sometimes i would get so nervous i would even go pray in dry storage lol sometimes being a hostess also mean dealing with crappy ghetto people

A hostess can do a lot of things, but primarily they seat the guests as they come in. There should be a uniform that you'll wear. I would suggest a good pair of shoes, you'll be standing a lot. Keep smiling, keep engaged in your work. Open the door for the guest when you can. it doesn't hurt to help others out if you have some spare time. Subscribe to the blog, I am sure you will do fine.
