Can anybody show me a single shred of evidence that anybody ever actually literally believed in Zeus?
Because it seems to me, reading the original historical sources of our knowledge of Zeus, everybody knew he was just a made up story character right from the beginning.
Immune to Indoctrinator: Ok. Some sources for you: Plato, Heraclitus, Homer, Hesiod, Aristotle, Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Sophocles, Euripides, Herodotus, and Thucydides for starters. If you can find a single reference in any of these classical Greek and pre-classical Greek writers that refers to Zeus as anything other than a metaphor for something tragic and impossible to understand, you get BA, and the knowledge that you have edified me.

Well, of course the ancient Greeks believed in Zeus. Plato went so far as to say that unbelievers should be put to death. Yes, Zeus was just made up, but since when does that stop believers from believing?

I can't.
But neither am I interested in doing so because that's kind of beside the point for which Zeus is usually used for. It's not significant if people believed in him or not. What's significant is that there's no more evidence for God existing than there's evidence for any other god.
You should also remember that only an estimated 1% of all literary works of the ancient era survived long enough to be known to us today. Who knows what there was in this missing majority? Maybe the writings of someone who believed in Zeus. Ultimately, we don't know.

there's a individual who lives in my city and she or he's the main important liar and con artist I even have ever met in my existence! She is continually arising with the stupidest issues and that i think of she is a pretend and a phony and fairly frankly i can't stand her. I continually tell her how weird and wonderful her thoughts are and how weird and wonderful they're and yet she maintains! i think of she has a depressing existence and that i'm so happy that i'm me and not her.

What are these sources you speak of? I'm sorry but I'm naturally suspicious of people who mention vague "sources" with no details or links. If I had gone through the trouble of reading an ancient tome I'd definitely brag more specifically.

lots of ppl believe in zeus today. believe it or not. ancient greek, norse and roman gods are worshipped today. just not on the same scale. some ancient temples to ancient greek gods survive today. few but the temples themselves dont prove what anyone believes. theyre just cultural artifacts, but religion is itself a cultural artifact.

The temple of Zeus could be considered evidence...the statue of Zeus one of the 7 wonders of the world & the temple is an ancient place of worship.

The Iliad says he's the father of Aphrodite.
Believed in? That's a whole other question, but many people believe and write about all kinds of mythologies.

I'm pretty sure the ancient Greeks left behind a lot of evidence... ?

Alright... I guess that's why he's constantly referenced as a real thing in philosophical writings of the time... because no one believed he was real.
