Why are we lied to in school? How does no one realize this?

This year, I realized that basically everything I ever learned in history class was either total crap, watered down, or just not taught. How does no one realize that our children are being brainwashed to think that the US had a flawless history?

Well, I don't know if my history has been total crap.

But watered down, not taught. Many reasons.

First off, it depends where you live. Those in the south are going to have a much different look at the civil war then the textbooks anywhere else. People are bias to their origins, plain and simple.

The textbook writers/teachers have their opinions - and while they're not supposed to share it or influence it, they still do.

Some people just think it's good to protect children from the hard truth that we had a pretty ugly history, with slavery and all. I think that's absurd. We need to know what people went through.

I think everyone realizes it, it's just not in our hands to stop it - it's in the educators.
