It's something adapted from ancient pagan holidays celebrating the spring solstice. Eggs are a symbol of fertility and spring is the season of birth and conception.

Yeah seriously, you answered you're own question. He carries them because he, or she, doesn't lay them. haha. But really it has something to do with the spring solstice. Eggs are a symbol of fertility and spring is the season of birth and conception.

you answered your own question...the easter bunny has to carry eggs because he can't lay them when he gets to your house.
