I would Truly appreciate your help with the book "The Left Hand Of Darkness"?

here's the deal: I honestly tried reading it but I kept getting lost and uninterested, so now I don't get it and I want to continue reading it , but since it's not on spark notes I will get lost again.
can someone give me a synopsis of the book?
a summary of important points and symbols and themes?
or at least help me out with some website that might have info on this book.
please, I need this for a big project, and my teacher refused to change my book, so now I'm screwed.

This is one of my favorite books, but I would not really be all that helpful in producing the kind of information that a teacher would be looking for. My take on it was another story about how working together to survive broke through the bonds of difference between races. Although this is much better written that most on this line. Here are some links for synopsis so that you can at least not fail your project. I hope it turns out all right for you. And don't worry if you don't like a book that I do, it is all personal preference stuff.
