I have a troublesome 1991 LeSabre, with 56000 original Miles.?
The service routine began with replacing the Intake Gaskets, Cam Magnet, Cam sensor, Plugs, Wires, Ignition Coil Pack, and ICM. Fuel pressure reads 38 psi KOEO and 42 psi KOER. Drives okay for 5 miles then dies. Sometimes restarts. Other times must park and wait until morning. Engine runs smooth and strong...when it runs. Runs as if water is in the gas when the problem occurs. I can sometimes make it home but need to keep my foot on the accelerator at traffic lights because the engine idle sometimes wanders below 650 rpm. The Service Engine Soon light is off and no trouble codes are stored in the computer. The fuel pressure remains stable while the car is off. Drained all the fuel and looked fine. Added fuel system moisture remover (just in case). Same problem occurred again. Drained all the fuel again and put in 2 gallons Union 76 Premium gas. Same problem occurred again. Now I suspect Crank Sensor and/or engine control computer as well. How can I check the computer?
Your thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.
Okay, I found the hose to the vapor canister to be in very poor condition and replaced it. Ran the car and just two houses away, it stalled. I immediately opened the gas cap and it did not make a sound as if there was too much vacuum in the fuel vapor system. Additionally, this car does not have a distributor. It has an ICM: Ignition control module and that was replaced with a new one. So that is not the problem either. Thanks for the replies, I will see if the computer is at fault.

It could be the computer has developed a short, i had a cavalier that would want to die all the time. It turned out to be the chip in the main module had a short, so every time i hit serious chuck holes it would die. I could tap on the module and it would snap back to perfect, and i could cause it to do this driving down the street. I do want you to check to see if there is a problem in your tank, when you drive it next and it dies immediately remove the gas cap. If there is a huge whoosh when you open the cap, then you have some type of blockage in the vent system. I have seen this happen before also, so it may be struggling to get enough volume of fuel while driving.
