What do egg-eating snakes eat?
Well, obviously, I know they eat eggs. But are the eggs supposed to have the babies inside them? Or just regular eggs that humans usually eat? We are actually going to get chickens, so I thought It would be perfect to have a egg-eating snake. And yes, I know they are not supposed to be eating eggs all the time, they are still supposed to eat pinkys once in a while..... I've done my homework. I read on a website that egg eating snakes are known to be the kindest snakes. Does that mean they are for beginners? I would really appreciate people to answer who knows about the snake or has had or has experience with this type of snake.
Thanks a bunch!

...chicken eggs??
Egg eaters are not large snakes. A chicken egg would be impossible to eat, even for an adult. Quails eggs are what they are most often fed in captivity.
They are called egg eaters for a reason too; they dont need rodents - eggs, eggs, eggs!
The eggs *must* be fertile, or they will provide very little nutrients for the snake.
I wouldnt say they are for beginners though. They are sensitive to husbandry issues and a constant supply of small and fertile eggs can be hard to source. I've never once heard of a snake described as 'kind' so i'm not entirely sure what you mean.... Egg eaters are typically fast moving and not particularly easy to handle.
If you are looking for a nice docile snake that is good for beginners, look into corn snakes, royal pythons, house snakes, sand boas and king snakes :)

They can eat regular chicken eggs but only once a month, the rest of the time they should be fed on pinkies. 1 egg a week isn't enough and in the wild they will eat more rodents than eggs
