How can I put up plums besides making preserves.?

I still have a lot of preserves from last year. Now my tree is loaded again and I don't know what to do with them.

I know the feeling, I have a lemon tree that is a big producer. This sounds good and different.

You can make Plum Jam with liquid pectin

4½ cups crushed plums (about 2½ pounds plums)

    7½ cups sugar

    1 pouch liquid pectin

    Yield: About 8 half-pint jars

You must use the boiling water canners before beginning. If this is your first time canning, check out this video.http://youtu.be/f_w_ajq8KIQ

Procedure: Sterilize canning jars and prepare two-piece canning lids according to manufacturer's directions.

To prepare fruit. Sort fully ripe plums, wash, cut into pieces, and remove pits. If flesh clings to the pits, cook plums slowly in a small amount of water for a few minutes until they are softened, then remove pits. Crush fruit.

To make jam. Measure crushed plums into a kettle. Add sugar and stir well. Place on high heat and, stirring constantly, bring quickly to a full boil with bubbles over the entire surface. Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in pectin. Skim.

Fill hot jam immediately into hot, sterile jars, leaving ¼ inch head space. Wipe the rims of the canning jars with a dampened clean paper towel; adjust two-piece metal canning lids. Process in a Boiling Water Canner.
