What are some fun places to see in Boston, Mass at the end of July?

My boyfriend is going too, but will be in meetings all day. What neat things can I do?

Is China Town worth the visit?

Chinatown has some nice restaurants and odd shops, but that is about it. It is kinda grimy there

Visit the Harbor Islands, Whale watch, Blue Hills State reservation

shopping, lots of shopping in Quincy Market, Newbury Street or Harvard Square in Cambridge, also visit the insanely overpriced Copley Place Mall

Boston's China town is nothing special. I'd recommend the North End (Little Italy) over China town.

Faneuil Hall Market place, right across the "greenway" from the North End - http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/

Be sure to check out the Union Oyster House and the other buildings just around it. These buildings were there in the 1700s during the planning of the American Revolution. Interesting history to read on the outside of the buildings. I.e. you don't have to go into the restaurant.

Paul Reveres house (where Sarah Palin's latest screw up happened) is in the North End, as is the Old North Church.

Or - just walk the freedom trail http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/

Newbury Street is where the high end shops are. Just across from Newbury St is the Boston Common. On the Common are the Swan Boats - over rated in my opinion, on the NW corner of the common is where you will find the bar that the Cheers TV show was supposedly based on. My wife and daughter could spend all of a whole day on Newbury Street.

I would skip China town not much worth seeing there. Newbury Street is good if you have money to burn. There are alot of high-end stores there. If looking for something less pricey check out Downtown Crossing. You might also want to check out the Boston Commons which is across the street, maybe go on a Duck Tour or visit the Public Gardens. There is usually always something going on in Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area. The Science Museum and Museum of Fine Arts are pretty cool too. Have fun!
