Why do my gums hurt after I eat hard foods and brush my teeth?

They hurt sometimes when I eat salad or apples or anything hard and when I brush my teeth. What can I do to make it stop?

It could be an early sign of gum disease, or just sensitivity. See a dentist asap!

Your best bet is to purchase an electric toothbrush and floss regularly. The electric tooth brush is fool proof technique wise because you may be brushing too hard or improperly. There is a possibility of gingivitis which may lead to periodontal disease so take good care of your teeth. Also, healthy gums will not bleed. I am sure you know you should stop smoking to prevent any type of mouth diseases as well. And floss!!! Don't skip the flossing! It is very important to floss between the teeth to prevent plaque from adhering to the teeth and is important for healthy gums!! Floss every day and you will see less puffy less red and healthy gums in about a week or so.!! Good Luck!!! :)
