Suffering is the result of human sin. The world is not the way that God created it and because of that, all are vulnerable to the effects of sin in the world. Why does one person suffer and another does not? Why do catastrophes happen to some and not to others? It is because sin is in the world. But there will come a day when the Lord will return and cleanse this world of all sin and all suffering.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away," (Rev. 21:4).

If your leg was broken, and you were in excruciating pain, wouldn't you automatically choose to escape the suffering? Does anybody actually ask or choose for suffering to penetrate their lives? (Well, some do, but those people enjoy pain- so it's not really suffering is it?) The Truth is us Humans are operated by our desires to enjoy ourselves, and every single thought, action, and decision we make is based on this inner program that constantly tries to satisfy itself. Sometimes.
Suffering is a natural part of life, but there is one suffering that we have a choice over and that is the suffering that comes from feeling the separation of our heart from its home. When we find the inner path the suffering can stop and the rejoicing can begin. It is not the removal of suffering, it is the filling of an absence. It is in the absence that we suffer.

trying to be happy in life is a fool's errand. life is an endurance test. Just do what you can to get through it, and leave at that.
