Getting a job after graphic design school?
I have had some success as a logo, flyer, print advertising and business card designer. I did it all cut and paste - old school style. I'd like to go to school to become a graphice designer. What I'd like to know is have any of you had success with that? I'd only like to do it if I knew the money spent on the degree would have a decent financial return.

For a certain extent yes, some people do actually get jobs after going to graphic design unis and such. However, if you work for a company sometimes they don't pay "too good". Freelancers get payed more because its a specific job from a specific designer, though sadly, you're not assured to be picked since there's a lot of other freelancers out there who might do stuff for cheaper prices.
But to answer your question its really a 50/50 concept. I'd suggest for the current time to make more art and probably apply in global artgroups such as: Depthcore, Slashthree, etc. The artists there usually get a lot of jobs from people.
Good luck!

Since you understand the requirements of printing you are actually in advance of most students who leave college with beautiful but impractical portfolios, a broad knowledge of Photoshop (but little of InDesign or Quark) and very little idea of what happens once the work has left the screen.
That is not to say you are on to a sure thing having attended college and got your degree, many thousands of graduates are turned out every year – there are only so many job openings for them.
