Your thoughts on this statement please?

As part of a religious education project, I have to give thoughts on the following statement:

"The Qur'an is an ancient book that has no relevance today"

Do you have any pros or cons about this? If you do, I'd love to hear from you.

Well the first con I see is that the Qur'an isn't an ancient book, the bible is barely even ancient, in fact the version used by most protestant churches wasn't finalized until the 1500's. The only ancient texts being used today are the books of the Torah and the earliest Sanskrit texts surrounding Hinduism. Ancient history ends with the Roman Empire in 476 AD.

But that is all technical. The real con with saying the Qur'an has no relevance today is that it obviously does. Millions of people read it and continue to use the book and the teachings surrounding it as a way to view the world and to lead their lives. The book has become the basis for many societies and cultures around the world from the past that continue to affect the present, and it influences current societies and cultures today.
