Men and women cheat because they are selfish - period. It has nothing to do with what their partner looks like, most of the women Tiger Woods cheated with were nowhere near as pretty as his wife. Sandra Bullock is a lot better looking than that tattooed chick her husband cheated with. And just because a wife or husband is gorgeous doesn't mean they are a nice person - there are plenty of model looking girls who are nothing but gold diggers and once they have a ring on their finger and their husband's Platinum card in their wallet won't sleep with him anymore or give him any attention, or that sweet man you married turns into an abusive monster behind closed doors. Nobody knows what really goes on between a couple unless you are living in their home. And who is to say they didn't have some sort of arrangement - maybe the wife knows that she is just a 'trophy' and has no expectations her husband is going to be faithful, but she at least expects him to be more discreet with his cheating

But people in the public eye also need to be even more vigilant - in these days of camera phones, twitter, facebook, etc nothing is ever going to be secret and things are always going to be made public at some point. Why any public figure would send naked pictures of themselves to another person is just idiotic

I don't care what someone does if they are single but if you know you are the type who can't be faithful or doesn't want to be faithful anymore, then the only right thing to do is end your marriage and then feel free to sleep with whoever you want whenever you want.

Can't speak for Weiner, but usually a man in power is surrounded by adoring females. The opportunities abound. If the wife isn't attentive and an aide is available, why not have a little fling with the aide? Younger and more willing has a lot to do with it too. There's usually an ego and pride factor in there somewhere too.

I don't care who my Congressman is sleeping with, it's none of my business. It's none of yours either. What we need to look at is what he votes for and against.

Forget the gossip and concentrate on performance and results.

I won't condone bad behavior, but you have to understand that people in power have a lot of temptation coming their way. Tiger Woods had/ has a lot of power - the power of fame. People judge him for cheating on his wife. Again, I won't condone his bad behavior. He was in the wrong, every step of the way. But at the same time, I'm almost sure all kinds of women were throwing themselves at him, and it's hard for me to judge the guy when I imagine my own self in a situation like that. It would be awfully hard for me to say "no" if all these women are letting it be known to me that I could sleep with them anytime I want.

But as far as politicians go, "we the people" have unethical leaders precisely because "we the people" have lost track of our moral senses. "We the people" have practically no moral fiber left. When a politician fails like this, I feel that it's mostly due to a failure on the part of the common people. Democracy doesn't work very well when people are only concerned with their own immediate wants. Nor does it work when we cop out, and claim that "my vote doesn't count anyway." It's supposed to be a government by and for the people, and that means we have to be active participants in the making of policy and the election of officials. So long as we continue to focus on being divisive, badmouthing each other, screwing each other in any way we can legally get by with, and copping out when it comes to our civic responsibilities, we'll have unethical leaders. But if we can begin to value ourselves and others the way we used to, the way we should; then we'll be able to have good and fair leaders again. It's as simple as that.
