The only cure for that is having confidence in your ability and there's just no way to have that as a beginner. Maybe you just aren't ready to perform in front of people yet.

I think everyone starts out scared of doing anything in front of other people, like performing or speaking. Like a lot of other things, the more you do it the less it is a problem. Practice so well before you perform that no matter how bad things get, you still can do everything right. Practice in front of a few friends then a larger group and maybe that will help you get used to it.

ok well i've been acting on stage for maybe 5 years now, and trust me its really not that bad. i do sometimes get nervous, but all that energy you get from being nervous can be transformed into positive energy. plus, once you start, it gets a lot easier. if all else fails, just don't look at the audience. fix your eyes on one spot in the very back, behind all the people. don't look up into stage lights though, because then your eyes hurt. :P
hope this helps! and don't give up, just get on stage and have fun!

Performing for people is frightening. Practice with your eyes closed so that you can memorize the song. Go out on stage and play the song with you eyes closed. It's you and your instrument, nobody else is there.
Really connect with your bass guitar.

*Stay positive - if you think you can, then you will. If you're mind set on messing up then you might.
*Act like there is nobody around - pretend that you're by yourself!
