Why have the English never been held accountable?
That is for all the atrocities that they have carried out over the centuries. Attempted genocide, ethnic cleansing, theft of land, mass rape pillage and murder. Why has there never been any apologies or reparation payments, and why are none of these things ever mentioned?
Can i just add that the western world apologised for slavery but england exploited ireland for everything they could get but when the potato famine happened they turned a blind eye and let 1 million irish die and a further million had to emigrate, also the highland clearances these are two of a very big list and they are not all ancient atrocities. Africa? India? it goes on and on and on but the english never speak of any of it, they have wrote their own fake history it seems.

Because we were almost always the victor or had others who had committed similar things on our side. Also, we were founder members of many of the organisations which hold other nations to account, e.g. UN, ICC, etc., and we would never allow them to even begin to investigate. But history and our tattered reputation have the final say, and our actions have come back to bite us. The ghosts of our past deeds will always stand to point an accusing finger at us and condemn us. Look at the vast influx of immigrants (not enough) to the UK because of our colonial past. It's payback time. They come not because they love us, but because they know we owe them.

The British Empire grow to be not acceptable via any stretch notwithstanding it extra a lot extra strong than harm. flow to India and they talk very favourably of the British and the British Empire. As for Africa, what grow to be there previously the British? Waring tribes, famine and diesease (as has reappeared in view that independance) The Bantu conquered massive tracks of Africa previously the British and research the united kingdom to different African colonists - carry out a touch study on the Belgium Congo. many of the established clinical advances in medicine and engineering are because of the British Empire. the most suitable literature grow to be from Britain. Britian abolished the slave commerce in 1807 lengthy previously each person else and slavery interior the British Empire in 1833 lengthy previously the U. S. Civil conflict extra about its abolition interior the U. S.. also it grow to be Scottish Protestants to blame for the colonisation of eire and the Irish famine, not the English, so that is laughable that you imagine Scotland exempt from guilt in those 'crimes' you communicate of. The Scottish were extremely fanatic Empire builders. you're both sick recommended and a hypocrit.

The British Empire was not perfect by any stretch but it brought a lot more good than harm. Go to India and they speak very favourably of the British and the British Empire. As for Africa, what was there before the British? Waring tribes, famine and disease (as has reappeared since Independence) The Bantu conquered vast tracks of Africa before the British and compare the UK to other African colonists - do some research on the Belgium Congo.
Most of the modern scientific advances in medicine and engineering are thanks to the British Empire. The greatest literature was from Britain. Britain abolished the slave trade in 1807 long before anyone else and slavery in the British Empire in 1833 long before the US Civil War led to its abolition in the US.
Also it was Scottish Protestants responsible for the colonisation of Ireland and the Irish famine, not the English, so it is laughable that you think Scotland exempt from guilt in these 'crimes' you talk of. The Scottish were particularly enthusiast Empire builders.
You are both ill informed and a hypocrit.

It is quite impossible to be held accountable for something when you are dead. All the people responsible for the actions you have listed died a very long time ago. Anyway, pretty much every other country on Earth has done the same, at some point or another with very few ever apologising, and some are doing it now.
There is absolutely nothing to be gained from raking over something that happened in the past, especially when there are horrendous crimes like genocide and ethnic cleansing going on today. That is what we should be focusing on, not the past.

Get a life pal.
Every so called civilisation since the beginning of time has been responsible for some sort of atrocity against others.
African against African
Arab against Arab
Americans against Native americans
Indians against Indians
Chinese against many others including their own
Japanese against many others including their own
British against British as well others
etc etc etc ad nauseum
Go back as far as you want in history and you will find that as soon as mankind started forming themselves into communities there has been atrocities, slavery etc.
If every nation which had committed a "crime" against others in the past then all mankind would be forever apologising.
Now run along and get a life and read a history book or two. Which by the way are normally written by the victors.

the irish took slaves too
Two authentic letters from him survive, from which come the only universally accepted details of his life.[7] When he was about 16, he was captured from Britain by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After entering the Church, he returned to Ireland as an ordained bishop in the north and west of the island, but little is known about the places where he worked. By the seventh century, he had come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland

Yeah right, so tell me what country is innocent of all the crimes you mention? Germany, Uganda, Japan, China, Russia, USA, Italy, South America, Denmark, Sweden, Spain and most other countries on the globe have at one time or another been guilty of thuggery, rape and pillage as well as genocide and murder. The British are way down the league table of committing attrocities and Britain has paid and continues to pay dearly to other nations. we are the largest contributor when it comes to charity giving and no other nation on earth gives as much to third world countries as we do pr capita. Dont lay blame on the current generation for attrocities commited by ancestors from centuries ago. Britain has been the leading nation to combat poverty and illiteracy and to fight for human rights and human dignity. Only a fool would not see that.

I'll tell you why because there is no country, no people on this planet who can boast a past that is 100% free from these kinds of crimes themselves NOBODY, and don't ever forget that, NOBODY.
Before the British Empire existed, Arabs used to sail up the west coast of Ireland and raid it for slaves, try chewing on that one for bit.

Ancient History when there were no accountable world bodies like now.

It´s like smog exemptions for old cars.
All cultures prior to the modern industrial era are exempt because no one remembers it, except black people, which is why whites in the U.S. are still held accountable.
