Can you name a superstar that's won a NBA Title without a legitmate superstar along side of them?

MJ had Pippen, Shaq had Kobe, Kobe had Gasol, Duncan had Robinson, Parker, Ginobili, Magic had Kareem, Kareem had Oscar Robertson, Wilt had Jerry West. Isn't this the reason Lebron left Cleveland, Carmello left Denver & in the future Chris Paul will leave New Orleans & Dwight Howard will leave Orlando?

It seems rare but there have been some.

    Hakeem Olajuwon

Tim Duncan (maybe) - Robinson is a HOFer but wasn't even playing 30 min per game the last few years of his career and he was known as a choke artist before that. Also, Ginobilli has never even made an all star team I believe, and I'd hardly call Tony Parker a superstar. Never one of them will even sniff the HOF.

Detroit Pistons won with no superstars in '04

  • Dream and Duncan both did it. Dream's best teammates in 1994 were Vernon Maxwell and Otis Thorpe, and Duncan won in 2003 with a 38-year-old Robinson, rookie Ginobili, and 2nd year Parker.

i understand that lebron left cleveland because his goal for joining the heat was to win asap, and win multiple times. in hindsight, miami is a better team than the cavs because there's a better supporting cast for accomplishing those goals.

but as a former fan of lebron, here's my issue with the decision. in each of those partnerships that you mentioned, there is a clear superstar and sidekick. lebron is a two time MVP and has been associated with the jordan standard since day one. by joining dwyane wade, who is already the franchise player in miami, lebron basically admitted he can't live up to the hype. and since wade is already the franchise player in miami, that would make lebron the sidekick in this partnership. i know lebron is more talented and athletically gifted than wade, but i would find it disrespectful if he joined the heat to take the role of captain away from wade, since wade is the one who led the team to a championship.

i know it takes more than one prime all-star for a team to win championships, but i think i would be less bitter about the decision if lebron was in a place where he was the superstar instead of the sidekick. at least in cleveland or new york, we would see that lebron still had faith in his abilities, and with a little bit of patience we would see his full potential as a leader. then maybe after a few championships we would be more comfortable calling him the next jordan.

    Rick Barry is one. 1975.

Seattle, Portland, 1970 New York Knicks, Houston, recent Detroit Pistons.

San Antonio only really had Tim Duncan.

    Kobe.

    2009 and 2010

    Gasol is NOT a superstar.

And the Laker teams from 2009 and 2010 didnt have a future Hall of Famer either, except for Kobe of course.

Wade. Shaq wasn't a superstar at the time Wade won; even if the finals were rigged.

Not recently, because you atleast need two good players to win a championship.
