1992 Toyota Previa Strut Replacement?

Hi,

The front struts on my Toyota Previa are shot. I'm looking at Monroe sensatrac struts. I found the strut mounts on the passenger side (behind the glove box) but how do you access the driver side bolts? Also, when I take the strut off, is it possible to swap struts without a heavy duty spring compressor?

idk if you have 4wd or not. procedures maybe different. to navigate from that page, you have to sign up, plug in vehicle info, and go to "repair info".

    it's free......

if the new struts don't come with the coil, and i don't think monroe's do, obviously you will need the compressor tool. but not to pull the assembly off the vehicle.

see the cap and nut that's marked 47 (475, 34) above the suspension support? b4 you take out the strut. b4 you loosen the three top mount bolts, take that cap off and loosen that bolt first. DO NOT REMOVE IT!! just loosen. then do the mount bolts. do properly torque that prior to install though. you'll know why when you get it out.

match-mark the lower strut mount on the spindle. to be sure, alignment is advised after. not required if successfully match-marked, but advised. use thread locker on all fasteners here. blue stuff. red should be used on the lower strut/spindle through-bolt nuts. don't use anything on self locking fasteners. if you're lucky and can see how, you may not have to crack a brake line. just remove the hose-strut mount clips, support the spindle, and carefull move them out of the way. then remove the lower strut through bolts after match-marking both sides of the strut/spindle.

i just clean the area, spray some red paint on it. dry, then scribe around the strut. perfect alignment picture when removed. spruce it up with some semi black when done.

sorry if this was a little basic to you. don't know your skill level.
