Injured young bird (Mauled by cat)?

My brother just came home with an injured bird, It's quite young but I'm not sure what kind of bird it is, Can't get it to a vet right now but I'm under instructions to find out what to do with the wound and what to feed it. It has bee mauled by a cat under one of its wings its lost some feathers and theres bleeding and apparently a bit of bone showing but I didn't see it.

Thanks in advance.

The bird is dead. Sorry but that is the plain simple truth.

Cat have very toxic bites from the bacteria in their mouths and once they have bitten a bird that bird will die no matter what you try to do.

Make sure the wing is not broken before doing anything. If it is make an improvised stint to hold it in place. If the wing is not broken then you should put pressure on the bleeding area.

After all is said and done you should bring it to the vet immediatly. however in your case you should be sure to give it water. unless the bird is emaciated then food is not an issue.

It would be very unusual if the bird lives, Wild birds don't take to being looked after in the home.
