I want to have enough money to buy a car by the time I turn 16. How can I raise enough money?
I just got out of the 8th grade and am going into my freshman year of high school. My parents told me that if I can afford to buy a car by the time I get my driver's license, they will pay for taxes and insurance.
Right now, I have approximately $300. I need $10,000 by the summer getting out of Junior year, which is when I get my license (my birthday is July 13th.) I have plans to save all my birthday and Christmas money. I'm going to get a summer job as a lifeguard and babysit every here and there.
Is it possible that I can obtain $10,000 in 3 years?

You can get an older used car for half that. So 5k in 3 years or like 140 a month. That's doable. Babysitting now, then when you turn 15, most fast foods will hire you and that job can earn you about 500 a month during school year and 1000 during the summer. That will balance out the years now when you can only earn 25 a month babysitting once or twice.

1: Get realistic. You need about $3000 for a GOOD used car. At age 16, you don't need, and can't afford impressive.
2: You have just over 3 years to earn the money. That comes to just under $20/week to reach $3,000 or just under $55/week to reach $10,000
3: If you visit EVERYONE in the neighborhood and offer to do odd jobs for money, this is a VERY reasonable goal. If you actually get the summer job, it alone should put you close to YOUR goal, even at minimum wage.

As others have mentioned 10k is way too much for a 16 year old to spend on their first car. My first car cost me a whooping $700 and was more than reliable enough. I suggest you get a part time job when you're 16 and save up for a nice decently priced starter car. I wouldn't spend more than $1500 personally.

i think your gonna raise themoney by doing a job and babysitting. Ive heard lifegurards make a decent amout of money. Also you can get more money by maybe doing a carwash in ur driveway or a yard sale/ garage sale or bake sale. You can aso maybe help around the house and do chores and get more $ for allowance. Also if you dont make 10,000 dollars in 3 years (which i think u will raise enough) u can ask ur parents for u to take out a loan for u but just rember dont tire yourself out for money just do as much as you can hope his helps! and save dont spend unless desired!
