Why was the Ford Explorer rated as the worst vehicles of the last two decades?
Time magazine published an article listing the worst 50 cars of all time. I'm just wondering why the 1995 Ford Explorer tops the list. From my experience a lot of the 80s Fords were the worse and I could also see the Ford Pinto topping the list, but why the 95 Explorer? FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily.
I also noticed the H2 made the list. Are they that bad also?

Contrary to what the the first guy said. The Explorer did not have any inherent engine problems that could cause them to burst into flames.. It did however have well documented tire problems, particularly the stock Firestone tires. The tires has issues with tread separation which could cause the tire to rapidly deflate and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The SLA front suspension on the 1995-up models were more prone to this.
