It may or may not be a good idea. You should do a test run on a separate piece of wood to see if that is how you want your art work to look like. Typical boards and large pieces of wood a usually not made for water color art work and that will dramatically effect the look of your work. For example water color paper is made especially for absorbing and retaining the vividness of the color and line; if you were to use would it could dull these elements. Also, the quality of the paint and markers and the type of wood you are going to use... to get the best looking product using more professional paints and markers is the best way to go.

This is all up to you.

I suggest the test run first. (It is always good to do a few thumb nails before starting the piece)

I know from experience that any water-based media, like watercolor or ink, will always seep into wood and bleed. If you seal the wood somehow beforehand, this won't happen, but this may also prevent the media from adhering to the surface.

watercolor is easy to be soluble into water and thin colors, not suitable to paint on wood.

Gouache is thicker paints, but also soluble in water.

    Acrylic paints is better choice.

    Watercolour?

    NO!

    Marker?

    NO!

    > I recommend oil paint than watercolour.

    > Marker will make it look very ugly and messy.

It would not look too good so I do not recommend it.
