Is there a way to preserve my tethered jailbreak on my iphone 4?
I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 running 4.1, but the dang mic broke on the thing (THIS IS THE SECOND TIME!) so I can't make any calls. Left with no other option, I'm gonna have to do a complete restore on my phone, and give it to apple, who will probably give me a shiny new iPhone 4 running iOS5.
While that's good and all, from what I hear with the release of iOS 5, there's a bit of a fuss about the possible end of tethered jailbreaks in the future. I would wait for the shenaniganz to end and for a tethered jailbreak to come out, but I have a week or so before my 1 year warranty expires.
Since I'll probably get a new replacement phone, will my 4.01 and 4.1 SHSHs backed up on cydia be useless? Is there any way I can go back to 4.1? If not, when do you think the next tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 will be out?
I use AT&T, so I don't need to unlock. I just want a jailbreak, but I don't want the hassle of an untethered redsn0w jailbreak.
Hopefully the iphone hackers will use the shatter exploit they were saving pretty soon...
Ahh, didn't realize iOS 5 was still in beta. The silly ads on the apple site fooled me, all is well.

The new iPhone will be un unlockable :S I mean u can't unlock the baseband (but gevey sim card may work, nothing official till know)
If they are gamma give u the new iPhone before this fall, it means that it won't be iOS 5, probably it will be 4.3.3 Witch is also un unlockable :/
About your old SHSHs they r useless
And about iOS 5 jailbreak.... It's out and I have it but tethered
REMEBER gevey sim card unlock MAY work
Good luck :)

you can go back to an older firmware but you will have the new baseband making it unlockable and you wont be able to jailbreak it for a while.
