automatic transmission to manual transmission?

so i recently got a 2007 chevy cobalt and i really really like it, EXCEPT for the fact that its an automatic. i love driving a stick so much better. anyway i did not have a choice of the car, my parents got it for me (with out my say, they just took the money outa my bank account w/out me knowing) even tho i stressed i wanted a manual transmission. idk what to do. is it possible to switch out the automatic for a manual?

I'm so glad to see people who actually prefer driving stick over automatic!! Especially from a girl (not stereotyping but usually girls dont like stick shifts)

I hate to see people like one of the answers here that say "why get stick, automatic is so much easier", well yea it's easier, but it's for lazy people, sticks is for those of us who love driving :D

Anyway, yes it is possible. But it's probably waaayyy to expensive. It sucks that your parents bough the car like that. You can try selling it and buy one with a stick.

    Good luck!!!

Sure, it's possible to change the automatic out for a manual transmission, but you will lost about half the value of the car in the process.

Keep it, drive it as is and trade it in for what you want in a year or so.

Just deal with the automatic trans. It's simpler than manual anyways. Why spend hundreds of dollars trying to change the car when you can just drive it easier. Or, just tell your parents you don't want it. But I doubt they would get another car for you. It's either that car or no car.

put out an ad, and see if someone else had a similar car, that is a std. and they need an auto, and try to do an even trade

It would be very difficult and way more trouble than it's worth. Sell it and buy what you want with a M/T
