How can anyone think music is "bad" when it has been proven to be one of the healthiest things for humans?

The usual excuse is that music takes up the place which prayer should occupy. Now if we take that to its natural conclusion, all things, save what is necessary to physically stay alive, should be banned. And most of us can see this is how Islam operates, nearly everything is 'haram'.

It all suggests some kind of communal preparation for someone's personal goal, such as regional or even world domination, putting all other irrelevant distractions out of one's mind. It is quite similar to Japanese factories' morning group exercises to focus their minds of the teamwork goal in the day ahead. The regular 5 times a day prayer format controlled by loudspeakers is a great example of this ongoing brainwashing system.

It is almost like Muslims are just waiting around until they secure their place in 'Paradise', some even complain when there is background music in educational programmes, failing to see the contradiction.

What results is a totally backward, retrograde community which has no interest in advancing itself or preparing in any way for their children's future. Compare this to societies based on Christianity and you can clearly see the tragedy. What is the 'Muslim work ethic' exactly?

I am no follower of Islam and we are poles apart. But I have to say this that some of the great poets, singers and musicians have been muslims. It is the present day muslims that have reduced their religion to such low that the world has started hating them.

I wish the present generation realises this and adopts the policy of "Live and let live" the world would be a much better place. I would wish such muslims the very best in their struggle to come out of the grip of fundamentalists and terrorists.

physically . Everybody has their favorite type of music, just like colors

Hadiths are time specific,region specific and depend upon with what zeal the messenger dealt with his surroundings.During Jahilliya singing and music were associated with drinking just as trimming eyelashes and makeup were associated with prostitutes.

Communal music such as live-concerts/theatres should be discouraged if it leads to one abandoning his prayers and purpose of life.. but you can on a personal basis.The prophet allowed music for eid festivals and marriage occasions.Its your intent, if your belief is not strong flow of music can affect you to become carefree/rebellious/stoical/losing sense of duty etc.And God knows best,it is He who forbade too much 'useless talk' and music is one aspect of it.

Music distracts you, if you listen to it too much you'll become dependent upon it, if you turn it up it'll harm your ears, but most importantly.... it takes your focus away from Islam. That is all I need to know.

Music is of no harm. Too much music might distract one, howwver if one can listen in moderation how can you say music classifies as 'lahwl hadith'.
