can you view full hd with a dvi-hdmi convertor?

i have a full hd monitor with no hdmi slot i also have a motherboard with a hdmi slot can i stick the dvi to the monitor and the hdmi to my motherboard? And will it be the same as using a normal hdmi(no quality loss) Thanks in advance

    Yes the two video signals are electically identical.

    So if your PC can output in 1920x1080 reolution you can get full HD on your monitor.

    Only difference between DVI and HDMI is the lack of sound support in DVI.

    HDMI or DVI provides you with an identical effects as eachother. I recommend going with whichever is greater inexpensive. HDMI is probable the better decision although as maximum new Flat show television's don't have DVI.
