If you are invited to an event that says donation of $30.00, are you obligated to pay that?

I know you are expected to, but isn't a donation optional?

See my answer to your other question.

If you in any way indicated you were going to the event, knowing a $30 donation is expected then you are obligated to pay the $30. Even if you cancel later....

The term "donation" is being used instead of a cover charge. If you say it's a cover charge then you would need a permit to hold the event.

You can go in without paying it, but it's considered rude.

Not if you decide not to go.
