Windows XP Recovery keeps popping up on my computer when I turn it on and will not let me use system restore?

Windows XP Recovery keeps popping up on my computer whenever I turn it on and will not let me use system restore until I purchase an advanced module to stop the errors on my disk. All of my shortcuts are gone and all of my programs are gone, the only way I got on the internet was clicking "on my computer and searching for Opera It also locked my task manager so I can't end the task. I downloaded and paid for Advanced System Care advised in a previous answer, but it seemed to speed up my computer, but I still can't get to many of my programs and when I google search I get sent to another site.

that's a virus try using a good Anti-Virus or Internet Security software I personally use Kaspersky Internet Security but don't buy it right away cuz u don't know what's there inside ur computer and you might have a spyware or a keylogger and I guess u don't want to risk ur credit card data to be stolen so try downloading the free trial and scan ur computer...if that didn't work try re-installing your Windows and as soon as u install it get an Anti-Virus or Internet Security software to prevent this issue from happening in the future

    hope I helped =)

    Hi,

Sounds to me like you may have a virus... Not sure why you wouldn't be able to use system restore or task manager.

If I was you I would try a few things:

    1. I would download a trial of the BEST antivirus available, reason I say trial is so you can use it without paying and if you like it, later on buy it. Find one which gives almost full features during the trial period.

    2. If the antivirus finds nothing then I would try to run repair mode from my installation disc. If you don't have that, maybe someone you know has a copy you can borrow.

    3. If that doesn't work, and the problem is in fact a virus, I would backup all my files and perform a complete reinstallation on my system.

Hope I help, and by the way, my information is just on the basis that you have a virus, although running a scan won't harm your system.

Also, almost forgot, on startup, as soon as you turn you computer on, hold down F8 until an advanced system start up options page appears (if it continues to the loading xp page you did it wrong) and start in safe mode. I'd probably try this method first.

I had a matching concern no longer until now, and the only ingredient that solved it advance into getting carry of an entire version XP CD, whether you borrow it. set up your BIOS Boot Order so it basically boots up from the CD. Boot off the CD, and click 'R' on the 1st restoration. while it gets to the command window (black show, white writing, and the cursor sounds like and underscore that blinks). form in chkdsk and hit enter. If it says you do no longer could desire to, form chkdsk /p and hit enter. form go out to get out of that window and the pc will restart. Take the CD out and notice if it works. If it nonetheless does not, chilly Boot it (turn the pc off for a couple of minutes, then turn it back on). let us know the way you bypass :)
