microsoft word 2007 help?

Hello I was wondering if someone can help me with microsoft word 2007? I am taking online college classes and all my documents are to be typed in word, and has to have page numbers formatted on the pages along with the headers. I never had trouble with this before until I just got my computer back from the shop and had to reinstall microsoft word. For some reason it will not let me add page numbers into my documents when I click on insert, page numbers, the top of page, when I scroll over it says "Save selection as page number (top), it is grayed out and will not let me click on it, or anything else where the page numbers are. I tried calling tech support to get help, they just kept transferring me on to someone else, spent the whole day trying to get help but did not get anywhere. Can anyone on here please help me with this? Thanks in advance!

Not sure from your description what "is grayed out and will not let me click on it." I did the same and saw "Save selection as page number (top)" grayed out, but I could hover over any of the positions and click it to set it as the header. Have you tried that?

    Hope that helps.

Yes, to get the pages numbered follow these steps:

    1) Launch Microsoft Word 2007

    2) Next click on the "Insert" tab and go to the "Page Number" button

    3) Now choose which type of numbering you want for your paper.

When you save, a "Header" should open up, but you can click the "Close Header" button. The page numbers are gray but you can change them.

If your numbering still doesn't work I would take it back to where you got it fixed or go onto the Microsoft website and see if you may send it in to them. Also make sure that when you reinstalled Microsoft Word 2007 again, that the CD was able to be used again. If it wasn't you're most likely going to have to buy a new CD.
