I would normally assume the other guitar you're talking about has an SSS (all single coils) configuration which is just a standard Squier Strat but you say both have humbuckers so I have no idea what the other Squier you're talking about is. Bottom line, it really doesn't matter which you chose. Fender and Squier sell more standard SSS guitars than they do HSS for what that's worth but one is no better than the other. For a beginner that difference is meaningless really.
