Is it true that girls actually wear a flower in the right side of their hair to show they're single?

I'm a girl but my friend just told me that if you place a flower on the right side of your head it means your single and the bigger the flower is the more single you are. But it doesn't count like that on the left side. It might be the other way around but you get it.

No.  This dates back to the 1920's and how flappers wore their scarves on their cloche hats.  Most people now wouldn't have a clue about so subtle a signal!

I think its just some girlie thing that some girls do, it kind of looks pretty. Some girls put it on their hair when they are on a beach. I don't know, i have seem some.
