can you use silicone spray to seal brasher Gortex lithium GTX walking boots?

As I was told its exactly the same as you get in shoe shops just called other name and costs loads more if not what would you recommend

    I always used Dubbin,I climbed in Scotland,Wales,France,and Italy....that works,use it..

    One no it is not!

    Secondly a good dubbing is vastly Superior to spray on protection and lasts longer!
