What's something romantic to cook for my boyfriend that isn't too expensive?
I want to do something new for my boyfriend of 8 months. We never get to have romantic dates; we only ever go out to movies and dinners out and other things, never anything really romantic. So, I wanted to set up a romantic date for us both at one of our houses, or maybe the beach? You know, candlelight, home-cooked meal made by me, romantic outfit. Does anyone have any suggestions on romantic candle scents, quick and easy meal ideas that are romantic, and something cute but not slutty looking I could wear? And would one of our houses or the beach be more romantic? Thanks in advance. :) xx

I would go with your house rather than the beach. The cooking will be easier and you can control the environment more to make things go just right. I mean in terms of not being able to control the weather, the light or who else is around at the beach. You are doing the cooking so use your house. You'll feel much more in control in your own kitchen. After all, you want to enjoy the night too.
How about some vanilla or rose scented candles? Light them for a little while before your bf arrives to set the mood. Set the table nicely, choose some nice music that you both like and sort out the lighting if you can. Try and do all this before he arrives.
For a starter, how about some warm chorizo and potato salad. Peel and boil some baby new potatoes. Cook some chorizo slices. Once they are ready, serve on a bed of baby green leaves and dress with a little of the oil from the chorizo pan.
For a main, a simple risotto is good or a creamy chicken pasta. Loads of variations on these recipes available free online.
For dessert, just serve up some fruit and ice cream in decorative glasses.
As for what to wear, how about a nicely fitted blouse with a long flowing skirt. Comfy, cute and definitely not slutty.
You could finish the look with polished nails and some cute sandals or even a pair of low heels. Alternatively, don't even bother with shoes. The setting doesn't require them, just be barefoot if you will feel more comfy and relaxed.
Hope this helps and have a great evening.

I'd suggest starting with smoked salmon and brown bread and butter. Two reasons for this suggestion, that there's no cooking and it goes really well with sparkling wine. I'd suggest Steak Diane for the main course. Cooking a steak is really easy and the Sauce Diane isn't difficult. I think you can even do the sauce in advance and reheat it. There are several versions of the sauce but brandy and cream are the basic ingredients. Check out several recipes and choose one you like. If you do something like a chocolate mousse for dessert, it's prepared in advance, so all you need do is serve it. Again, there are many recipes and after Steak Diane you might want it lightened slightly. I'd do this by serving it with fresh raspberries - they survive importation from South Africa or Chile very well.
