D I V O R C E...any more takers?

As divorce rate has gone much higher what could be the other reasons why it is so rampant nowadays. More surprisingly is even those who have been married for almost eternally suddenly find themselves waking up that everything should end, plus the fact that divorce couples are affecting young and younger generations.

It is more acceptable than it was in the past. Just because grandpa/grandma or mom/dad were married their entire lives does not mean that they had a perfect life and did not desire at one time or another to get a divorce. It was just not acceptable to get one in the past.

Divorce is easier to get and more heard of nowadays than it used to be. It's hard to tell how many couples enter marriage thinking that it's forever. People that have been married for a long time don't just suddenly wake up one morning and decide they want a divorce. In those situations, trouble in the relationship has been brewing for a long time - they were just good at hiding it and probably didn't talk about it to other people. It is too bad that the divorce rate is high. It's really sad.

It's not a simple issue, as there are a few factors involved here.

I think it's to do with social attitudes being more accepting of divorce and co habitation etc.

Also there has been a decline in general morality and being married is no longer seen as necessary.

Many people are no longer taking religion particularly seriously and they are not controlled by the ideals of religion or their local church anymore.

Also , the law is more relaxed about getting a divorce, people can re marry etc and it has become more acceptable, whereas, in the past it was frowned upon and criticised from many quarters.

Women are not so dependent upon their husbands to keep them as they have their own incomes, rather being at the mercy of a males discretion as in previous times.

It's quite complex but you get the general idea!

I know this doesn't help on the divorce rate but it would go down a little bit if couples got some counseling before getting married.

People have become extremely selfish and it takes giving and commitment to make a marriage. Traditional values don't exist in this ME generation and it's causing the fall of marriage.

ppl have more issues now and nobody knows what it means to be committed. and ppl no longer have the determination and societal pressure to keep them committed.
