Likehood of ninja 250r getting stolen?

Hi all.

I just bought a ninja 2010 250R . I had bought it as a possible commuter and weekend ride , but I hear about all these bikes getting stolen , my friends tell me not to worry since my bike is not wanted because of it's size ,that thieves are looking for anything over 600 , but some other people tell me that the bike being lighter actually has more chances of getting stolen than a bigger one .

What do you guys think ? it is insured but I refuse to walk out of the movies or go back from work to find my ride missing and have to pay 250 dollars to get it back.

thanks in advance.

if thieves want a bike, they are going to get it; plane and simple.

the steering head lock is a joke. Don't count on that as ANY kind of protection. A cable lock around a stationary object is probably your best bet, but there aren't always such objects in parking lots.

As you're well aware, 2 guys can easily pull a bike into a van with the wheels locked in a matter of seconds.

The fact that your bike is a 250 does make it less valuable than larger bikes; just look at what they sell for new. That said, criminals are dumb. They're not thinking, "hmm, I can only sell this bike for $2000 instead of $4000 - it's not worth risking going to jail."

A cable lock is ideal. a brake-disk lock is probably your next best bet. I used to run the cable lock around something when possible, and through my rear wheel and rear grab-bar when there wasn't an appropriate immovable object.

The Ninja 250R is a surprisingly sturdy selection for the 1st time rider, BTW some bike protection commencing place guidance classes have used those motorcycles. That being suggested, on a similar time as the toddler Ninja is sturdy to start on, as quickly as you extremely get the feel for driving and finally get extra desirable you will desire to circulate up. this is extremely real in case you intend to hold somebody with you. Even on the very reasonable weights you point out, the actual length of the bike limits you to the type you would be waiting to regulate the bike. the cost is extra desirable than sufficient on the expressway and not utilizing a passenger, yet can go through slightly with the extra weight. Helmets are genuinely required in California by capacity of regulation. And the bit relating to the carrying of the helmet, if that's costly and you care approximately it in any respect you will carry it with you the place ever you circulate, in any different case that's going to develop legs and walk away. the only different propose is to check out a MSF guidance path on your area, most of the appropriate funds you will spend on your new bike.

I've been riding bikes forever and I've never had one stolen. If it really worries you, get a cable lock and lock it up. Lock it to a lamppost or a fence or something, or just run the cable through both wheels so it can't be rolled away.

It's really hard to protect a bike if someone really wants to steal it. But if you make it just a bit harder to steal, thieves will go away and steal another bike.

it's a 250 and it's a ninja they are a dime a dozen, no worries, i leave my harley out all the time and have never had a problem; although, sometimes i do put a fork lock on it.
