How do I remove unwanted start up programs from my computer?

Run MSCONFIG (Win+r in 7)
Select the startup programs tab (top right) and untick the ones you don't want. You can easily add them back.

do as G'hound said however you will likely have to open the program and go to the options section and un-check "start program when windows starts"
