Are there any Manny Pacquiao fans who will admit he has given inconsistent answers regarding testing?
Eastside Boxing. com
Vivek W. (ESB): Lets take a quick trip down memory lane.....perhaps when we're done many will understand why this "issue" is a non-issue to me. The first individual to actually go public about his thoughts on Pacquiao was Paulie Malignaggi. There were discussions in the underground around the media at one point because a few even came my way, but the first person I can recall actually going public with this sentiment was Paul Malignaggi. Next, Floyd Snr. started to talk, then Roger, and then so did Oscar and Schaefer.
The lawsuit soon followed, but the irony here that few seem to take note of is the fact that when you take a deeper look at the timeline, none of the words coined as "allegations" really carried any weight until Mayweather agreed in principle to all demands, including the non-commission-established $10M over-weight clause and the fight was imminent. No one seems to be talking about the fact that GBP was still actively negotiating the fight when the lawsuit was filed, but it wasn't until Mayweather agreed to all terms that the talk of a lawsuit truly intensified.
Fast forward a little and suddenly, despite making statements that parallel those of the accused, Oscar, Schaefer, nor Malignaggi find themselves in the final suit; neither do the men at the center of the "controversial email" allegation, (Teddy Atlas and Tim Smith of the NY Daily News). That in and of itself is sketchy because that particular allegation remains the closest ammo this saga has seen to an actual 'smoking gun'! (pun intended)
So, we look at who spoke, what they said and when they said it; then we look at the initiation of the lawsuit and how the timelines run their course. Essentially, here we have a man professing innocence, yet that man has refused the best available testing the market can supply. I firmly believe Pacquiao can be clean and innocent of any substance intake, but I also consider his position and how often it changed (Ex: from...."I'll take any test, anywhere, any time", to...."it will make me weak", to...."I will do what the commission requires only"....and beyond). Anyone familiar with defamation versus free speech knows there is far too much inconsistency here for the accused party to accuse.
At the end of the day, there are 3 things that a judge considers when pondering defamation: Truth or factual properties, duty of speech (ones obligation to say certain things), and last but not least, freedom of speech. We know that Mayweather had no "duty to speak", but what we also know is that we have no idea if the statements made by Mayweather and company are true or not because Pacquiao has in fact refused the most extensive testing under many inconsistent circumstances. There has to be an established truth to say there's an established non-truth. Currently, we have no more truth that he's innocent than we do that he's guilty.
Bottom-line, Mayweather is a man who has other cases against him and he's also a man who's free today as a result of bonding out of another active case against him. If this were the "serious matter" some believe, there's no way in hell the judge would have allowed the day to end without taking action to bring him to justice immediately. He isn't hard to find! I won't say this is a false alarm, but I will say this: If Mayweather goes down, it'll be from one of the other cases. Not a sketchy defamation case. Too many inconsistencies here. ESSENTIALLY PACQUIAO IS OPTING TO PAY TO FACE A MAN IN COURT, RATHER THAN BE PAID TO FACE A MAN IN SPORT. If I see this, so can the judge.

Martin,
Everyone knows that if Mayweather truly wanted this fight to happen against Pacquiao, it would have happened already. He's brought every excuse to the book, from OSDT, cutoff dates, retirement, etc. The guy has more excuses for not to fight Pacquiao than Obama has for the economy not rebounding yet.
Don't get me wrong. Pacquiao has some inconsistencies in his answers. Part of which could be lost in translation (Tagalog to English). But the fact is he already agreed to the same cutoff that Mosley had with the OSDT (17 days), then to 10 days, then to 6 days. And each time he has agreed, Mayweather has reneged. To me and to most boxing and sports fans, Mayweather just doesn't want this fight.

But the one of the most intriguing pieces of data, both Shane and Floyd each took only 3 blood tests just before the fight and it ended 18 days prior to the fight. So why is that significant? Well, we were all led to believe the purpose of random blood testing was to deter taking any possibility of PEDs all the way up to the fight. We also thought both fighters will each have to submit at least 8 random blood test. It seems Floyd did not have single problem ending Shane’s blood testing 18 days prior to the fight. If The Superstar was fighting Shane, The Superstar would demand additional blood testing especially when Shane has history of steroid use. The Superstar will leave no stone unturned and would have told USADA we want additional blood testing as safely close to the fight so it can totally eliminate any chance of doping prior to the fight. But Floyd was comfortable with the idea with known steroid user Shane Mosley not being blood tested 18 days prior to the fight. Kind of risky, don’t you think? Manny agreed to the demands and basically wanted the same treatment and consideration Shane got. But according to Floyd Jr, it is not good enough. So it was good enough for steroid user Shane Mosley but not good enough for Manny Pacquiao who has never failed a single test and never been linked to any steroid or PEDs. It is simple to conclude, this whole drug testing demand by Floyd Mayweather Jr is nothing but a counterfeit claim just to avoid losing to the #1 Pound for Pound Fighter in the world. A complete fraud. Manny wanted the same equal treatment and level playing field with the drug testing but Floyd Jr is not the type of person who will give that consideration. You can ask Juan Manuel Marquez about an even playing field when it comes to Floyd Jr.

Pacquiao has said several times that he does not have a problem with fighting Shane Mosley, should his negotiating team come up with a good deal. What happened was more of a business decision rather that Pacquiao not wanting to face sugar shane. And at that particular time, Cotto was the bigger draw than Mosley. And did it not show in the PPV buys? Pacquiao Cotto was the biggest PPV event of 2009. Besides, Cotto was no push over, he had 2 victories prior to Pacquiao. His loss against Margarito is still being doubted since the plasters were exposed. For all we know Mosley may have really not beaten a prime fighter, because Margarito might have been cheating all along, and he did not have the pyschological confidence when he stepped in the ring. Nonetheless full credits should be given for KOing Margarito. By the way, didnt mosley lose to Cotto? So if Pacquiao did face Mosley, whats gonna stop anyone from saying he ducked cotto and went for the man cotto beat.

Based on my own opinion, the reason why Manny Pacquiao couldn't agree with the blood test was because it was dictated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. who doesn't have any right to do so. I don't believed any other reason other than that. It's ego. If Floyd Jr. believed he has the right to dictate a term so does Manny Pacquiao having the right to refuse. I firmly believed that Manny is clean and he believed on the side effects of steroids. I also believed that he doesn't trust any synthetic medicine as a cure to illness in the same belief that he doesn't believed on the effect of steroids. Filipinos especially those raised on the country sides were very conservatives. They stick to the teachings of the old folks who rely more on natural medicine coming from plants than medicine produce chemically.
There are places where words were being treated seriously unlike in the US where cursing is almost a part of speech. You said that you have been in the Philippines, so I am pretty sure that you know that you can not just curse anybody over there unless you are ready for a fight, a fight that could leads to a more serious one. That is the environment where Manny was raise no matter how poor they were, be responsible for the words that was said.
Anybody can have his own conclusion and speculation regarding the lawsuit but we can not deny that all chances were given by Manny Pacquiao to the Mayweather's but instead it was driven further by them without remorse. Let the judge decide on the case. Anybody can play smart by drawing their own scenario including sports writers but their stories only goes as far as they have buyers who will believed them.

If we remember the facts, pacquiao originally wanted a 30 day cutoff. MYweatger told him 14 days and pacquiao refused. Fact.
"the fact is he agreed to the same 17 day cutoff Mosley did." Jesus Christ these people are something else. Everybody w a brain knows that was the osdt people that decided 17 day stoppage of the test. Their presence was enough to deter ped use. The osdt people had the option to test minutes before the fight, but that was the osdt peoples choice, not Floyd or Mosley.
Come again, please
"first 17 days then, 10, then 6.." when is he gonna agree to up to date testing that Floyd has demanded the whole time??
Edit- so you are suggesting that the 3rd party osdt committee was told by mayweather to stop the testing at 18 days from the Mosley fight? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of an independent drug testing committee if Floyd calls the shots?

There's only 2 reasons to refuse a fight, & I think clear unlike Floyd haters and Pac lovers.
1. You won't pass the test.
2. You don't want to fight.
