    Bring 8x to the left..

    2x³ + 17x² + 8x = 0

    Factoring, we obtain:

    x(2x² + 17x + 8) = 0

    x(2x + 1)(x + 8) = 0

    Finally, by zero-product property..

    x = 0 and 2x + 1 = 0 and x + 8 = 0

    x = {0, -½, -8}

    I hope this helps!

    2x^3 + 17x^2 = - 8x

    2x^3 + 17x^2 + 8x = 0

    x(2x^2 + 17x + 8) = 0

    x(2x + 1)(x + 8) = 0

    x = 0 or x = - 1/2 or x = - 8

    2x^3 + 17x^2 = -8x

    2x^3 + 17x^2 + 8x = 0

    x(2x^2 + 17x + 8) = 0

    x(2x + 1)(x + 8) = 0

    x = {-8, -1/2, 0}

    you may do away with the 8 on the left factor so which you basically have x= something the x is elevated by utilising 8 so which you may do the different of multiplication (branch) to do away with the 8. and you apart from mght could try this to the different factor to maintain the equation equivalent. so which you may divde the two factors by utilising 8. 8x=7 /8 /8 x=7/8 x=0.875

    First, divide both sides by x.

    2x^2 +17x = -8

    2x^2 + 17x +8 = 0

    Then, use the quadratic equation to solve for x.

    (-17 + sqrt(17^2 - (4)(2)(8)))/((2)(2)) and (-17 - sqrt(17^2 - (4)(2)(8)))/((2)(2))

    This will give you both solutions for x

    x=-1/2 x=-8

    divide both equations by x

    you get

    2x^2+17x=-8

    rearrange

    2x^2+17x + 8 = 0

    (2x+1)(x+8)

    2x = -1

    x = -0.5

    x = -8

    2x^3+17x^2=-8x

    2x³+17x²+8x=0

    x(2x²+17x+8)=0

    x(2x+1)(x+8)=0

    x = 0

    2x+1=0

    2x= -1

    x = -1/2

    x+8=0

    x = -8

  • dividing both side with 0 cant be done because x may be zero.

    ans:{0,8,-1/2}
