Do Republican voters value education less than Democratic voters?

I've noticed that most of the popular Democratic politicians have undergrad degrees from great schools, as well as Law degrees from some of the world's best.

For example:

Barack Obama has a B.A. from Columbia University, and a J.D. from Harvard University.

Hillary Clinton has a B.A. from Wellesley University, and a J.D. from Yale University.

John Kerry has a B.A. from Yale University, and a J.D. from Boston College.

Barney Frank has a B.A. from Harvard College, and a J.D. from Harvard University.

While, most of the popular Republican politicians have undergrad degrees from mediocre schools, and either no law degree, or a law degree from a mediocre school.

For example:

Sarah Palin only has a B.A. from the University of Idaho, in Moscow, Idaho.

Rick Perry only has a B.A. from Texas A&M University.

Michelle Bachmann has a B.A. from Winona State University, and a J.D. from Oral Roberts University.

Herman Cain has a B.A. from Morehouse College, but no J.D.

Ron Paul has a B.A. from Gettysburg College, but no J.D.

Mitt Romney, however, has a B.A. from Brigham Young University, and a J.D./MBA from Harvard University. Ironically, he's the considered the most Democratic Republican nominee candidate.

Personally, as a voter, I like to see how educated the candidates are, before I cast my vote. I would hate to see my country run by poorly-educated individuals. Is education less of a factor to Republican voters? Do they value education less than Democratic voters?

Update:

@Vinny, Bachmann doesn't have two Ph.D.s. Not sure where you got that from.

Update 2:

@Fahjkdjkf: Yes, but how is a medical degree relevant to a politician?

Update 3:

@Vinny: Then she's counting her J.D. as a Ph.D. If you go by her logic, then most democrats have a Ph.D. too.

Update 4:

@Baroccoli: I'm only counting B.A.'s and J.D.'s. How the hell would an M.D. help Paul, if he becomes president? It's not relevant to a politician, so I didn't include it. Same as Bachmann's LLM. An LLM is the less-prestigious cousin of a J.D., which she already has. No point in including it.

Yes, they see education as indoctrination into liberalism.

Where someone got their education means nothing, what I want to see is politicians that know what they're doing. Politicians that have chosen to properly apply their education. Even the best educated have done chosen to take some preposterous paths:

Linus Pauling received a PhD from Caltech but died with an unending belief in magical healing powers of Vitamin C

Hugh Ross has degrees from British Columbia and Toronto in physics yet he believes in Old Earth Creationism

Duane Gish received his degrees from UCLA and Berkeley yet he is one of the foremost proponents of Young Earth Creationism.

And yes, I do realize that the above examples aren't politicians. But by your logic, people educated at great institutions who studied fields relevant to their careers would most likely be the choice experts. Clearly that isn't the case.

    For the record:

Bobby Jindal earned a double major from Brown University, and he was accepted into both Yale Law School and Harvard Medical School. He turned down both to take the Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford.

Rick Snyder attended the University of Michigan for his BA/JD/MBA

Lamar Alexander graduated from Vanderbilt before getting his JD from NYU

John Barasso is a Georgetown graduate BS/MD

Mike Crapo has a BA from Brigham Young and a JD from Harvard

Mark Kirk has a Bachelor's from Cornell, a graduate degree from the London School of Econ, and a JD from Georgetown

David Vitter was an undergraduate at Harvard and studied at Oxford before getting his law degree from Tulane (I think it's fair to give Vitter the benefit of the doubt here since he did have to start work after Oxford. And from where he resided, I think Tulane was his best option)

Rob Portman got his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth, and his JD from Michigan

Pat Toomey is a Harvard graduate

Although I do not place no importance on the education of political candidates I know the political positions I want in my candidates.....and find that FAR more important than where they went to school (as I think do the far majority of people).

Ron Paul BTW is a medical doctor....not a lawyer....and (on the point of your question but apart from the question as to his qualifications) I hold to agreement with him on political positions about 90% of the time....which determines, for me, for whom I vote.

I do not think the argument that such and such went to a better university is a very good one, nor one that is likely to have legs. People do not vote for candidates simply because they went to this school or that. Few even consider it much at all when making their voting decisions. (IE. It may be an argument that some Democrats might fall to....but it is unlikely to change many minds. Nor is it the reason most of those Democrats making such arguments vote for those Democrats.)

As a citizen who has paid attention to all these politicians with these higher education degrees from these elite schools, and I've noticed how wonderful they have been in the prosperity of our country. "Sarcasm"

BTW: Michelle Bachmann earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney before becoming a Congresswoman.

And I'm no fan of Ron Paul's, but he has a doctorate. (MD)

I think your info is a little flawed. Which proves you need a new source for your information.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

This question is so loaded? Where a person gets their degree has no bearing on how much that person appreciates education. I personally work with literally hundreds of people with non medical doctorate degrees with varying majors. These co-workers come from elite schools-online schools and I can tell you from personal experience where you get your degree is not an indication of how smart you are?

    Ummm

    Ron Paul is a doctor.

and he got his MD from Duke...

EDIT: Its not, but im just saying that the man is educated. Regardless of his education though, the man has had a strong political career and thats what matters most, education is great for breaking into abusiness, but after a few years it becomes more about experience than about education.

I'd rather they had integrity and some honesty. Bill Clinton, for example, earned a Rhodes scholarship and took their money yet he dropped out and kept the money. Smart...yes, but one of the most dishonest presidents we had.

What difference does it make? I have a degree from community college, but I guarantee I am smarter than you and make WAY more money than you. Brains, ambition, and know-how will get you alot further than a piece of paper in this world, son.
