getting rid of a nasty spammer?

one particular spammer from GMail or Google Groups, which I'm not a member of either, keeps sending me numerous spams messages everyday, which go to either the Yahoo Trash or Spam folders. I tried emailing Yahoo, filling out forms, added the sender many times to my Blocked Address list, no matter what, still get this same spammer every day. This past weekend I was off-line, by Monday I had 93 spam messages from this person or persons. It's driving me crazy !

The email address is:

mona gr" <mona.gr2010@gmail.com

The messages are all in Arabic, btw and are directed at Google Groups members.

Anyone can help me get rid of this plague, please let me know

Often times, spam is sent by people unknowingly. For example: Let say some 'Real' Spammer sends out an email containing a key-logger and it so happens that people who received this email, emailed their friends other emails. They didn't realize it but since they opened the email that was spam, containing a key-logger, it was hidden and now sent innocently to their friends. Now, their friend is my sister and she opened the email, which wasn't spam because she received it from her friend. Then, later she sends me an email. Now, I just received an email that was not spam from my sister, who unknowingly passed to me an email containing a key-logger. Now, the original Spammer, used the Key-logger to get my email information. And, begins sending out emails from my email address. They can do this without going into my email address. Most of the time, all they need is the name of the email address. Now, two days later, I receive an email from a random person who is mad at me for sending him spam emails. But, I really didn't. This is how spamming and key-loggers work. Which is why most sites have such security but is also why it is important to be careful with how you use your computer

Another Example: When you browse sites, some sites are not known for having upscale security. Now, when you browse websites, all websites that you view, store this information on your computer known as cookies and such. In these cookies, it is possible to contain a key-logger. When you go to email someone you could be the first person initially spreading this Key-logger to your friends. Then, next thing you know, your account is sending out spam letters without your knowledge.

Most people don't know this but most legitimate spam can be reduce significantly if people take the time to unsubscribe. Lets say you get 150 spam emails a week from junk. If you were to take two or three days and spend 15 each day and unsubscribe from the 10-15 most recent spam emails, within a few weeks you would notice a significant reduction in Spam. Then, once you have determined which Spam you cannot get rid of... like the email from the prince of Zimbabwe offering you 1million dollars, forward the Spam email to this link, Spam@uce.gov

    Or, try this... http://mail.google.com/support/bin/request.py?cont...

    Hope this Helps,

  • 1. Stop opening the messages. If there is a graphic or anything similar that it downloads from a server it is confirming your address.

    2. The reason for the spam folder is to collect spam. It is doing it's job. That is what it is supposed to do. If these emails aren't in your inbox I am not sure what your complaint is.

    3. NEVER respond to spam in any way, even to ask to be removed. You will NEVER be removed and your email will be bombarded.

    4. Spam folder. Just delete contents. don't bother looking at what is there. I have never found anything in mine that I needed. I get over 400 emails a day in EACH of my spam folders. Click on "empty". Works great.

As long as its going into your Spam folder, or junk mail folder its fine. It doesn't trouble you anyway.

The reason you have the folder is just in case the messages are not spam they get kept their for a week. Usually Authentication mails get sent there by accident. It will be automatically be deleted if you don't open it or remove it from the spam folder.

You can try to block the address, but what ends up happening is they change their address by 1 letter so you have to keep blocking them each time.

The Yahoo Spam folder IS the way spam is handled. You're not supposed to look at what's in that folder unless you think something may have gone there that shouldn't have.

If you don't like the fact that there's a number next to Spam in the folders list, there's also an [Empty] button next to it. Use it.

    Hope that helps.
