current problem with getting yahoo email on android phones?
I had no problems sending/receiving yahoo emails (IMAP) through my Droid incredible until this morning when it stopped working/synching completely. I deleted the account and reset it. It will not work. I've been able to access my mail through the yahoo mail app that is available through the marketplace but I'd rather get the emails directly to the phone. Verizon says its a problem with Yahoo's updating its server. What can I do?

Here is the step-by-step fix I typed up:

I tried all the solutions like restarting, deleting, etc and this is the only thing that worked for me on my HTC ThunderBolt. Should work on all and any android devices.

I'm having the same issue. In searching a couple other places on the net, there has been some suggestion that with new Yahoo Mail you will have to pay for premium service ($20/year I think) to get your mail forwarded ("POP'd") to your phone. I haven't seen anything officially from Yahoo about this. However, looking at Yahoo Help...
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mobile/comms/mail...
"My phone has a mail application. How do I get my Yahoo! Mail messages in it?
You will need adjust the mail application's POP settings to get your Yahoo! Mail messages into it.
POP access is a service for owners of one of the following:
* Yahoo! Mail Pop Access & Forwarding
* Yahoo! Mail Plus Premium Services
* A Broadband account
* A Small Business account
...
If you are using All-New Yahoo! Mail you can configure your account to enable POP by following these steps:
* Select Options in the upper right hand corner.
* Click More Options from the menu.
* Click POP & Forwarding.
* Select the option Allow your Yahoo! Mail to be POPed.
Notes:
* POP server settings may change from time to time and you should confirm the current POP server settings in Yahoo! Mail if it is not working."
However, when I try to follow the above, I go to Options, and there is a POP & Forwarding Option. However, the only thing when I click there is "Upgrade to Mail Plus so you can:
* download your Yahoo! Mail in an email client, such as Outlook
* forward your Yahoo! Mail to a different address"
So, I don't know if this is just a temporary bug. Sure hope it's not a change in Yahoo's policy.

I noticed about a week or two ago I started occasionally seeing "login failed" when checking on my HTC Inspire 4G. I've tried deleting the account, restarting and then recreating the account but nothing I've tried works, including changing different servers and security protocols.
I can send mail, but receiving mail is a big problem. I even tried upgrading to the New Yahoo! Mail, but I didn't see a difference at all. I suspect it has something to do with the recent transition to the New Yahoo! Mail affecting some of their servers. I'm guessing if your account is primarily on one of these affected servers, then we're stuck until Yahoo admits there's a problem and fixes it.

June 10th is when my Yahoo stopped as well. I want to throw my Droid X out the car window! Since I got this phone in September I have had to do a hard reset 4 times already- losing all my info and my ringtones- which BTW I am neurotic and have a ringtone for everyone in my contacts. Verizon told me to do another hard reset to fix the issue but I haven't done that yet. I was told to install the new software last week called Gingerbread since they thought that should fix the problem, but it didn't. The only thing Gingerbread does now is use up my battery within 2 hours! Motorola is aware of this problem and is working on a fix!

Hi to everybody,
I have the same problem in Italy (maybe the Yahoo servers are the same). I started to have problems on Friday 24th of June. I use a HTC smartphone. With other e-mail accounts (not Yahoo) it's all OK. If I am right, also users who use Outlook on ther PC's have problems in this days with Yahoo Mail.
I confirm that the App Yahoo Mail is working fine.
I hope that Yahoo will solve problems soon. Is very frustrating !

Same thing here. My primary Yahoo account works fine but my secondary does not at all. It worked fine until about a week ago. Yesterday I even got a new phone (not because of this problem) and it has the exact same issue. Primary works while secondary does not. I'll keep looking for an answer and let you know, but it seems to be on the Yahoo side since the problem spanned phones.

Same problem here. I got repetitive "Login failures" and my settings quietly reset from "download ALL emails" to "last 3 days". I saw all my correspondence slowly disappear from my phone before I figured it out, and realized I was no longer receiving emails.
Worse, it happened right as I took off on an important trip last week and I intended to depend on my email while I was on the road and out of the office. It is one thing to knowingly have spotty communications, and quite another to suddenly have dependable services taken away without any warning or notification. Quite unprofessional, and made me look unprofessional as well. Horrible customer service if this was indeed intentional.
If this does not resolve quickly, and depending on who/what the offending issue is, I will have to change phone/email/service provider to something I can once again rely on. I've had both Yahoo and Verizon for many many years, and would hate to go from being a satisfied proponent/fan to an angry vocal critic.

Same/similar problem - I was resetting my passwords and thought that was what caused it!
Deleted account - set it up again and the default Mail app for Android cannot receive Yahoo Mail. I can SEND Yahoo Mail just fine. No errors in the setup (using IMAP with incoming set to android.imap.mail.yahoo.com - just like it was BEFORE it stopped working).

I've had this happen before. Remove the account, then reinstall using the IMAP or manual setting rather than the 'ready to go' yahoo version. You'll never know the difference and this will never happen again.
