How can I save my yahoo emails accounts to an external drive?
I have Yahoo! Mail...not Plus. I want to save my yahoo email to an external drive. I want to include attachments, photos, etc.?
Thanks to all for taking your time to help me. After much research and thought about your suggestions, I walked away from it (the problem) due to frustration and after an hour, came back, again clicked "safely remove hardware" and it did just that. It said, "it's know safe to remove"...yeah!
The saying, "Patience is a virtue" was applicable in this case for sure!
Thanks again!

There is no way to easily transfer email from a free web account. With Mail Plus you can use POP3 to transfer using a standalone email program such as Windows Mail or Thunderbird. You can also use IMAP for free. With pop3 you must put all the mail in your inbox and mark it as not read. With IMAP I believe it will retain your file structure and download all. You will have to experiment.

Yes, Barklay, but one part of your answer is not correct, (I think), you can switch for free from other free mail programs, including gmail (google), Thunderbird, and Windows HotMail.....that is what I have read, searching for an answer.....I would also like to know....does anyone know if you can transfer your Documents and Files, from an IBM (lenovo) ThinkPad to an external drive? If so, do you know which External HDD's would work? Thanks (BTW, Restore by Lenovo does not work on my older pc..I do not know why, but, of course, it is no longer under warranty)
I hope yahoo will not have a "problem" with printing this, but I think they are "unique" in charging free users to switch
Source(s): I just googled "how to switch from yahoo mail to (fill in the blank) free mail" on the first answer....the second question is one I have seen others complain about (it is an issue for me as my HDD appears to be failing) - ?Lv 44 years ago
you first might desire to get carry of the emails off Yahoo's servers. to try this, use a digital mail software that shops emails on your workstation, like Outlook, Outlook convey, Mozilla Thunderbird, living house windows stay Mail... etc. set up your Yahoo account to export as a POP3 account (google for the thank you to try this), set up this methodology on your workstation to get carry of POP mail, and click get carry of. it is going to then, finding on the the settings you place in Yahoo, dowload all your emails to a report on your workstation. then you fairly gotta locate that report (in Outlook's case, a .pst - the area adjustments finding on which version of this methodology you're utilising, so i won't be able to say the place precisely to locate it), and replica the report on your exterior not elementary force. accomplished :-) some digital mail clientele, like the Opera browser, could additionally assist you to hold your emails as guy or woman information, or as a CSV database... i think of. could be properly worth a glance using fact the only way of establishing your emails in the event that they're in, to illustrate, .pst format, would be by importing them returned in Outlook (which isn't suitable). Thunderbird permit you to hold guy or woman emails as .eml information, although i'm undecided there's a bulk export decision.
