It can be either one for all I care, It's what they are fighting for that matters and that itself varies from person to person. Some call it a resistance force to push foreigners out, But the reality is that many of the "resistance" don't know the true cause of their role and are recruited upon false pretenses. Sadly the same can be said for us Americans, even with the "proper" information available.

Because most of the "resistance", as you dub them, is actually pretty unpopular with the locals. Doing nothing but killing and robbing them has a tendency to do that, I guess. Who knew?

when i was in Iraq most of the "resistance" were foreigners crossing the Syrian border.
clearly people can't be considered a resistance then they aren't even part of the occupied population.
