iMac or Mac Pro - video editing?
I do a lot of video editing and effects on Final Cut Pro and I use Photoshop sometimes. I do some web browsing. I occasionally use after effects and motion. I am on a 2006 iMac and it is slow at rendering and stuff.
I am looking to buy a new computer and I am not sure if I should get a Mac pro and a 27 monitor or a 27" imac
If you say Mac pro, how many cores.
I don't need that much space so 1 Tb should be more than enough

Get a Mac Pro with a 6 Core Xeon processor and like 12GB - 16GB of RAM. An iMac is good, but it isn't great. If you have an iMac now and it is slow, I think you should get the Mac Pro. Make sure to get a good graphics card.

Get an i7 proc on which ever is less expensive, plus lots of ram. An external monitor can be replaced or upgraded easier than the built-in iMac one. iMacs are not very portable, either.
As many cores as you can afford. Keep your big storage outside of the machine on firewire. Big drives fail. If you have a couple of backups on the outside, it's not much trouble to replace, if it's the drive inside and it quits you also lost all your software.

Video enhancing demands lots of two concerns: a million) RAM 2) CPU Now, for people who get the Macbook professional 15" or 17", then you definately'll improve to 8GB RAM, and an i7 CPU. in case you get the i7 Macbook professional, then the progression of the iMac might desire to be the bigger demonstrate and the skill to enhance to 16GB RAM.
